Tirsbæk Castle is beautifully situated on the north-side of Vejle Bay between tall forested hills in a valley neighbouring the bay. The castle is privately owned. The park covers 30 acres and was established as a renaissance garden in 1745. The main building was built on an islet separated from the garden by a moat. The park is surrounded by a wall of field stones and is the home of deer, fruit trees and flowers as well as a terrace area and a vineyard - the oldest in Denmark.
The Tirsbæk park is very unique, as its story dates back to the Renaissance, which is the case for only very few manor gardens in Denmark. The central elements of the garden are the terrace area, the vineyard, the surrounding stone walls and the moat.
The surrounding 1000 acres of fields and woods belong to the castle. The place is run as a combined farm and forestry. |
