Gårslev Church was built in a Roman style with small, round windows high up and round chancel arch. The eastern part with chancel and nave, built in the tenth century of finely shaved squares, is the oldest part. The arch of the chancel was built in the late Gothic period, when also the nave was extended towards west.
The tower was built in the late Middle Ages, but has been rebuilt considerably later on. The porch may be the original construction from the late Middle Ages. In the porch, you will find an enormous heavily armed oak money block from the fifteenth century.
The church altarpiece, the decorations of the pulpit and the sounding board are cut in wood and from the fifteenth century. The font is Roman. The chapel facing east is from the sixteenth century. |
