Thyregod Church was built in the late tenth and the early eleventh centuries in Roman/Gothic style. The church has one of the country’s oldest church bells, which is still being used. The bell is from around 1235. The hymn poet Grundtvig resided in the vicarage from the age of six or seven years and until he was baptized. Grundtvig was baptized in this church on April 15, 1798. The church belonged to the now discontinued Hastrup estate.
