The Højvang Museum is a local rural heritage museum featured in the barn, stable and washhouse of an original farm. The barn features old agricultural machinery and tools from different crafts, including those of painters, shoemakers, clog-makers, carpenters, and coopers. There is also a collection of miniature houses, representing buildings in the area from around 1898.
The stable presents a twentieth-century exhibition but also includes displays of prehistoric potsherds and Stone Age axes found in the Egtved area. There is also a copy of the Egtved Girl’s coffin and a collection of old weights.
In the washhouse you can experience how laundry was done in olden days. And there is an old farm kitchen and a fully functional blacksmith’s workshop.
The privately owned museum is managed by the Egtved Museum Association, which was founded in 1982.
