A local heritage museum and archive, the Smidstrup & Omegns Museum offers insight into the days of yore – on the farm and in the fields. The permanent exhibition of kitchen utensils and farming tools opens a window to a world before the advent of mechanisation.
This year’s feature exhibition spotlights the many traditions and rites of weddings. Also featured is an exhibition on the bio-fuel and fodder company Treka in Håstrup. In 1964, the company started producing grass fodder pellets and later started a production of wood pellets as fuel and currently supplies seed hull pellets for fodder and fuel.
The museum also features a small exhibition of children’s clothes last worn between 60 and 100 years ago. And you can see a horse-drawn butcher’s wagon that remained in service until 1945.
School classes are invited to experience classroom teaching the way it was conducted 60 years ago, using a stylus and a slate blackboard. And pupils are seated at old-fashioned desks.
The museum café seats approx. 40 visitors. A coffee vending machine is available.
