Denmark’s ninth largest city, Vejle oozes culture and liveability. The atmosphere is urban and there is a vibrant pedestrian zone with high-street chains as well as specialty boutiques. There are charming side streets, green courtyards, shopping malls and cosy cafés.

Vejle offers great shopping experiences and has been ranked Denmark’s Most Service-Minded Shopping Town 2016-2018. Vejle has previously been hailed as Denmark’s Best as well as Denmark’s Cosiest Shopping Town.

A stroll through Vejle offers a wealth of architectural impressions that showcase the city’s rich heritage as well as its future-forward developments. The oldest building is the Sct. Nicolai Church from the mid-1200s, while Spinderihallerne, Den Smidtske Gård (merchant house), Vejle Town Hall and the Vejle Windmill are all from the 1800s. Adding to Vejle’s exciting new impressions are the waterfront promenade, dockland canals, a floating kayak club, a marina, restaurants and contemporary residential estates, such as Bølgen (The Wave).

VejleMuseerne (The Vejle Museums) invite contemplation and learning. The Vejle Museum of Art houses a unique collection of Danish and European graphic art, while Spinderihallerne (The Spinning Mills) provide an exciting journey through Vejle’s past. The science and experience centre Økolariet offers the chance for children to learn about nature, the environment, energy, the climate, innovation and technology.

Vejle is located in some of Denmark’s most varied and scenic nature. Woodland hills dip into the meandering Vejle Inlet. At Gorilla Park Vejle in the Nørreskoven forest you can swing in the treetops – and you can experience fallow and sika deer in Dyrehaven (the Deer Park). By the inlet you find the urban beach of Albuen and the gardens of Skyttehushaven, which both offer majestic views of the Vejle Bridge. You can also study the rich wetland birdlife of Kongens Kær – or how about challenging yourself to Denmark’s toughest cycling route in the hillscapes of Vejle?

In Vejle you can spend your evenings at the many restaurants, watch a good movie in the Lido Biograferne multiplex or try your luck at the international Casino Munkebjerg. You can also enjoy a night out with concerts and theatre performances at the Vejle Music Theatre.
