Inspiring churches
Churches dot the green landscape around Vejle. The oldest date back to the twelfth century. Several have magnificent frescoes. The more modern churches are also worth a visit, not least for their inspiring architecture.

Bredsten Church
The tower of Bredsten Church with its onion-shaped spire pays homage to the Baroque reconstruction the church later underwent. The church is whitewashed with lead roof. Of particular interest is the pulpit, which like the altarpiece is of a grandiose Rococo design.

Brejning Church
Brejning Church was inaugurated in 1967 as a parish church and institutional church – a branch of the Gauerslund Church. Of particular interest is the beautiful, classical simplicity of the church.

Givskud Church
In the village of Givskud you will find the beautiful medieval church, Givskud Church.

Grejsdal Church
Grejsdal Church, which as designed by local Vejle architect Jens Malling Pedersen, was consecrated in 1961. The church, which is situated on a hill on the west-side of the Grejsdalen valley, is simple in style and based on an elongated, pentagonal ground plan.

Jelling Church
Jelling Church dates back to around 1100 and is the fourth church on the site. The first was a wooden church erected in the eighth century by Harald Bluetooth as a mausoleum to his father, Gorm the Old. Jelling Church is a UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Nørremark Church, Vejle
Nørremarkskirken Church (Nørremarkskirken) in Vejle was designed by church architect Holger Jensen, whose signature style was experimental, but also simple. Nørremarkskirken Church was built in 1975-1976 as a parish church for Vejle Nørremark.

Nørup Church
As most Danish town churches, Nørup Church was built in the Roman times. As a result of later alterations and extensions, the church is today rather unique, both on the outside and in particular on the inside with its well-preserved baroque furniture.

Sankt Nicolai Church
Sankt Nicolai Church is an integral part of the vibrant urban space. Located in the heart of Vejle, on Kirketorvet, the church is visited annually by many tourists and locals.

Sct. Norberts Church
Saint Norbert's Church is Vejle’s Catholic Church, which is centrally located in Vejle together with Saint Norbert School. The church was constructed in 1922-1924 in the Neo-Gothic style.

Skibet Church
Skibet Church was built between 1125 and 1150 and belonged to Haraldskær Manor until around 1936. Skibet Church was built in travertine with a Roman nave and chancel.

Øster Nykirke Church
Øster Nykirke or Saint Peder’s Church is situated on the top of the ridge and is Denmark’s highest-lying church.
